Sailing Lessons for Children, Youth and Adults

The WSC Sailing School proudly presents safe and fun-filled sailing lessons. We encourage a lifelong enjoyment of sailing with classes, for a wide range of ages.
Participants learn:

 

  • the basics of balance, direction, propulsion
  • rigging and launching
  • safety and seamanship

All Instructors are Sail Canada nationally certified and insured.

 

Wet Feet | Introducing Young Children to Sailing

Ages 6 – 11 | Weekday 1/2 days | $200/wk ($160 for WSC Members)

This program introduces and familiarizes young children with the water environment. The course is taught using our sturdy and stable fleet of Optimist Prams. This program runs for 1 week of half-day sessions.
The cost for this course is $200.00 per week.

 

Junior Sailing | Double Handed | Beginner

Ages 12-17 | Weekday 1/2 days | $200/wk ($160 for WSC members)

Our junior training program includes 5 half-day sailing lessons. We follow the Sail Canada CANSail training standards. This program is a progression program where students work towards obtaining a Sail Canada certification.
The cost for this course is $200.00 per week.

 

Beginner Adult Sailing | Double-Handed Boat

Ages 18+ | Weekdays | $400/wk ($320 for WSC members)

This program is designed for adults with little or no previous sailing experience. The CANSail 1 and/or CANSail 2 curriculum is taught aboard our 4.3 m long Club 420 dinghies. This course runs for five full day sessions.

 

Adult Introduction to Sailing  | Private Lesson

Ages 18+ | Saturday | $75/person for a 3 hour session

This program is designed for adults with little or no previous sailing experience.
Saturday sessions . 9 to noon or 1pm to 4pm. Private Lessons limited to two people.
Lessons are provided in C420’s, a fantastic double handed boat perfect for all skill levels!
Instruction includes:
Introduction to sailing lesson
How to rig and de-rig the boat
How to safely prepare for a day on the water
How to launch and return to shore.

Sailing is an exciting life long sport for all ages! We look forward to setting sail with you this summer at WSC sailing school.

 

What to Bring
Required:

 

  • Participants are required to always wear Personal Flotation Devices (PFD’s or life jackets) on the water. Please bring your own.
  • Please bring a set of dry clothing and shoes for comfort after sailing.

 

Recommended:

 

  • Rubber-soled or running shoes
  • A wet suit, if you own one, will ensure your warmth. Remember, it may be cooler on the water. A nylon shell jacket also works well.
  • Some participants prefer to wear a hockey or paddling helmet while sailing.
  • A water bottle, snack and bagged lunch are also a good idea.
