Canadian Race Management @ WesMex 2022

From L-R, Famina and Tof Nicoll-Griffith (PCYC), Peter and Jordyce van Muyden (WSC), John Abel (RVYC), David Bruyea and Janet Geisberger (NYC), Bruce Barss and Wanda Bornn (WSC), Judy Abel (RVYC), Ann Rouget (KYC), and Kristina Gilbert, (PCYC)

This team of Canadians was invited to provide Race Management for WESMEX 2022 Regatta. The WesMex International Small Boat Regatta is Mexico’s biggest and longest running dinghy regatta and is hosted by the Vallarta Yacht Club in Nuevo Vallarta on Banderas Bay. It is a qualifier for the Mexican Sailing Team to represent the country in various international competitions. This year, WesMex added the IQ Foil and Formula Kite Class to its entry list.

It was a reunion for many of us as we have all previously volunteered at regattas across Canada, Florida and WesMex.  The fabulous winds and temperatures for racing, were complemented by evening socializing at local restaurants and a trip to Puerto Vallarta for dinner.
