Peter van Muyden is the Volvo Cars Volunteer of the Year.

We have previously announced Peter being awarded the Volunteer of the Month by Volvo and are now proud to say that he has been awarded the Volvo Cars Volunteer of the Year.

The Volvo Cars Volunteer of the Year Award was established in 2015 when Volvo Cars of Canada commenced support of the national award, in place since 1991. This award recognises volunteers for their outstanding contributions to sailing activities at Sail Canada member clubs, Sailing Schools and Regattas. The contribution can be related to activities by the candidate(s) over a period of years or to a specific event or program during a particular year.

Peter has been an International Race Officer since 2008. Race official at over 50 events in the past 4 years including the PanAm Games, Canada Summer Games and numerous North American and Canadian championships. He has officiated at regattas on 4 continents and in 8 provinces.  As a Sail Canada Master Race Management Course Conductor he has facilitated dozens of race management courses across Canada and shared the many tools such as GPS course laying programs, weather station programs and target time models that he has developed. Peter is a longstanding Sail Canada volunteer who also gives back to his own Club.  His contributions to the sport of sailing are invaluable and they deserve the recognition of the 2016 Volvo Cars Volunteer of the Year Award

Congratulations Peter and thank you for your outstanding contributions to Wabamun Sailing Club.
