Stage 2 of the relaunch has allowed us to further relax some of the restrictions announced earlier in the year. Sailing activities have begun and I am pleased to inform you that the maximum number of people allowed at the Club has been increased to 100 and the consecutive weekend restriction has been removed. We have increased the number of people allowed in the washrooms at any one time to 3 and we have opened the kitchen for limited use. A maximum of 4 people or 2 cohorts are allowed in the kitchen to wash dishes, access the refrigerator or freezer and to use a microwave or an oven. Cooking entire meals is still not allowed and everyone must be diligent about cleaning all touched surfaces after use. There will be cleaning supplies available.
We must continue to stay vigilant and ensure that our members stay safe and that we adhere to provincial restrictions. Members are still required to book online (or by contacting the Club Manager) and self-assess for COVID-19 symptoms. Some people find signing up on the participant list inconvenient, but I want to stress that this is still necessary for accurate contact tracing.
Skipper and crew combinations that are not in the same family are now permitted as per the AHS definition of a sporting cohort.
Please read the updated Covid-19 protocol and participant list procedure.
Club series racing started last weekend and will continue in its usual format for Saturday/Sunday racing. This coming Saturday is closest to the summer solstice so we will host our annual Solstice Regatta on Saturday evening. The warning signal will be at 7:00 PM.
As always, please contact me or any other member of the Executive with any suggestions, comments, or concerns as we manage this extraordinary sailing season.
Happy sailing!
